rattengewitter I've been a big fan since The Great Nothing. The first few listens to Corpseflower left me a little confused, but the album quickly grew on me. It has become one of those albums that always works for me, no matter what mood I'm in. I can't recommend it more, it's fantastic! <3 Favorite track: Psilocybin Death Spiral.

pinkytheent The absolute biblical plague of cicadas outside my apartment mandated that I check out an artist of this name, and WOW! I'm not really sure what I expected, but I did not expect such compelling, spellbinding, and unique music! Truly spine-tingling stuff that will conjure colors and spirit you away. I MUST hear more from Cicada the Burrower. What a truly emotive and captivating journey. Favorite track: The Fever Room.

Praying at the altar Of not enough The voices inside me Are listless and numb Bells chime like a siren Bone bends with a knock The fever room opens I enter, it locks Lit by black candle sticks Ashen wicks Incense fills the lungs with Acrid smog and shit The choir is coughing The sermon's begun Despair at what I've become Anhedonia A procession of slitted wrist Eucharist Bleeds to the beat Of an old battered drum The instruments brought out Detuned then unstrung Sing softly the silent song Anhedonia

I buried a secret Deep inside of me Ascending the mount Anointed with leaves You're here for a moment I'll follow your lead The glimmer of quartz Is heavy Unseen Following father The pace makes me wheeze My eyes to the ground My back to the trees My hands unfamiliar Search for a reprieve The further we go Marching to the peak I'll bloom like a flower When I open up When I say what I am Where the sun shines aloft I wonder if my words Will be just enough At I fill cargo pockets with Glint dirt and dust I'll shine like a diamond That's stuck in the rough Waiting for the right moment To say what I must When we reach the top No gem left untouched I'll find the courage to say That I am trans to you

Bleak bathroom walls A spiralling hole Hallways retching Bent red and low I tried to erase what you did to me Rotting away unjoyously I wish I had never been born Steal me to bed On a hard wooden floor Leave me to weep Until there's nothing more O, I wish I had never been born Broken body Heart beating fast Losing time How long will this last The rhythm of text on a shattered screen Spills away into a dream I wish I had never been born Steal me to bed On a hard wooden floor Leave me to weep Until there's nothing more O, I wish I had never been born

about

Several years have passed since the release of "The Great Nothing." After much experimentation and self discovery, Cameron returns with "Corpseflower," an album about pain, self-discovery and cautious hope. Blending elements of adult contemporary and black metal, Cicada the Burrower takes the listener on yet another journey through the deepest recesses of Cameron's mind. After coming out as a transgender woman, she meticulously cut 5 tracks of gentle, harrowing violence. "Corpseflower" is an attempt to express those feelings that come with being transgender. Learning who you are and coming to terms with your future.

All earnings for this record will be donated to the ACLU.

"Corpseflower captivates in a way that so many others can only strive to achieve. It perfectly bottles the intrinsic loneliness of existence, the barbaric prison that is freedom of choice, as well as the undulating seasons of the mind. There is nothing other than sublimity here, that and a unanimous victory. Extraordinary! 10/10" - Cvlt Legion

"Corpseflower is an exemplary album that speaks highly of its creator and her ability to craft music that has found its own voice and character. This is music that has lasting value and appeal, and I urge you strongly to check this out. Very highly recommended." Wonderbox Metal

"It may be more of a jazz record embracing darkwave and blackgaze than a black metal album reaching out to avant-garde influences, but Corpseflower is that rare thing – an original LP that appeals to metal fans and leftfield experimentalists alike. Who’d have thought that cinematic lounge jazz could be so life affirming?. 9/10" - Scream Blast Repeat

"I can’t reiterate enough how unique and captivating this record is, and I can’t encourage you enough to lose yourself in its emotional soundscapes and open your mind to the pain and hope presented within. 9/10" - The Progressive Subway

"I truly have not heard a record that can hold a candle to precisely what has been created throughout the whole of “Corpseflower” to immediately enable this effort to stand out from any potential competition as everything within this album comes together almost too well to make for a performance that’s as entrancing as it is powerful to the very core and I dare anyone to find a record that can hold up to what’s been accomplished here in the grand display of tenacity and talent that Cicada The Burrower puts on to tremendous effect." - Head-Banger Reviews

"No, it’s not vying for the extreme, and no, it’s not trying to be metal – but my god, if the heart of both the aforementioned is the harrowing, desolate, judgemental depictions of every day – then here is the gold medal winner. Close…. 9/10" - Chained Disintegration
